End of Services

Horses: The sturdy Criollo horse – the Costa Rican Criollo is of a lighter build than its South American cousins – a well mannered agile horse. All the horses are trained to work the cattle and respond to neck reining. They range from 14 to 16 hands.

Saddles are modified McClellan. No English saddles available. Both open and covered stirrups are commonly used. The majority of the horses are ridden in “Jaquima” with a "bozal" – a type of bit-less bridle made of rope or leather. The horses are trained to this system which is not only more comfortable for horses but practical for long-distance riding.

Pace: Moderate with periods of trotting and exhilarating canters on the beach.

Riders weight limit: 190 lbs (87kg)
