Pilates for Riders at Hacienda Sepulveda
April 1-9, 2006
A retreat combining a specific Pilates course for riders with daily
riding programs at a beautifully restored 17th Century Hacienda located
30mn outside the colonial city of Lagos de Moreno in the Province of
Jalisco.
Hacienda Sepulveda
This rural mansion belonging to the Serrano family for three generations,
has been a labor of love for Juan Antonio Serrano who has spent the
last 10 years preparing it for its new role as a privately-owned managed
boutique hotel (11 suites) offering the most authentic hospitality experiences.
Here horseback riding is one of the main attractions with hours of trail-rides
through the estate (includs its own lake).
A newly opened Spa (2005) has been designed in what was once the hay-room
located within the walls of a historic building dating from 1890, and
where a central temazcal-pre-hispanic therapeutic steam room is the
focal point.
Other facilities and activities include a swimming pool, canoeing,
mountain biking, fishing, hiking, billiards, visits to neighboring haciendas…
Dining here is a rare opportunity to sample original Mexican recipes
passed down over generations. The hacienda's cocinera, fondly known
as Mariquita, has been with the Serrano family for 30 years.
Hacienda Sepulveda (member of Boutique Hotels of Mexico) is
a destination unto itself that rekindles memories of a past era.
Daily riding programs over numerous scenic trails will be available
in the afternoons to implement the knowledge acquired during Dan Loigerot’s
Pilates courses.

Daniel Loigerot
Daniel Loigerot graduated at the Sports University of Marseille
(France) in Sciences and Techniques of Physical Education and Sports
– Department of Athlete training. There he founded Gym Loigerot,
a specialized conditioning and fitness center where he trained a variety
of sports, including cycling, triathlon, soccer, tennis, golf, basketball,
and marathon. He moved to New York in 2000 to pursue Pilates training
under the personal tutelage of master teacher Romana Kryzanowska, the
last remaining Pilates disciple who was personally trained by Joseph
Pilates. Daniel holds an elite certification in the Pilates Method for
Body Conditioning from Master Teacher Romana Kryzanowska.
His expert knowledge of physiology coupled with his extensive athletic
experience enables him to customize his training sessions for his client's
specific physical challenges. In a short time he has become one of the
foremost sports trainers in New York. Currently, he is training dancers
and equestrians generating positive performance results by enhancing
strength, flexibility, balance, and focus. He conducted Pilates training
for Betsy Steiner's breakthrough Equilates certification course.
During this dedicated “Pilates for Riders Retreat” at Hacienda
Sepulveda, Daniel will engage in practical as well as theoretical sessions
to help you create a better awareness of your body and work with you
to reach achievable goals. Dan’s method, specifically customized
for the rider's physical needs, uses systematic and progressive Pilates
and Muscle Release to enhance the rider's performance and fitness. This
experience may also be complemented with treatments at the Spa (clay
treatments, Aromatic massages, lymphatic drainage, reflexology, kinesiology...).
Daniel is the co-author of The Pilates Edge - an Athlete's Guide
to Strength and Performance. The book applies Pilates to specific
sports disciplines such as golf, tennis, swimming…. This application
demonstrates Pilates' enhancement of sports performance and its ability
to prevent and rehabilitate injuries. He is also co-founder and
managing director of The Pilates Edge Studio in SoHo, New York, and
creator of Liveworkout.com, his on-line training product. Pilates Excellence,
his video, provides an in-depth roadmap to this training.
