MOROCCO

An Exclusive Ride in the Valley of Roses

April 15 - 23, 2007

Limited to 8 riders

Steeped in history with a richly diverse culture, Morocco offers an amazing variety of spectacular landscapes: beaches, snow-capped mountains, arid plateaus, green valleys, fertile agricultural plains, canyons, lakes, forests, palm and olive groves, oasis and harsh rugged deserts gradually developing into sand dunes of majestic proportions. A land of colorful contrasts, it is an ideal country to discover on horseback!

This exclusive ride originates in Ouarzazate and the oasis of Skoura where our first night is spent in a stylishly refurbished Kasbah; a perfect introduction to the Berber culture. During the next 5 days, we then ride our Barb-Arab stallions over the foothills of the southern Altas Mountains, through gorges and canyons, finishing with the spectacular Valley of Roses and the town of El Kelaa renown for the making of the "eau of roses", a perfume obtained from the distillation of petals of roses which grow in abundance here, hence the valley’s name. Furthermore this is the time of year when the roses are in full bloom and ready for harvest. Their perfume embalms the air! Nights will be spent in our private mobile tented camp of elegantly appointed Caidal tents - fit for a Sheik!

After saying goodbye to our horses, a short drive will bring us to Ouarzazate for the night. Then it’s off to Marrakech where we will spend the last two days staying in a delightful Riad within the walls of the Medina; more culture, further culinary delights of course, and shopping galore in the souks!
