From Chenonceau to Saumur, the ride takes place mainly in the Touraine also known as the "Garden of France", celebrated for its magnificent white chateaux: Chenonceau, Villandry, Azay-le-Rideau, Chinon, Ussé .. and vineyards. The rolling terrain and lush forests, once playground to the aristocracy of France are the ideal terrain for riding. Nights are spent in charming 4* B&Bs, a chateau and small hotels.

This trip starts with a six-day progressive ride on the spectacular High Plateaus surrounding Addis Ababa.

Horses are sturdy Abyssinian ponies that have been crossed with horses from the stables of last emperor, Haile Selassie.  The next 11 days, using air transport and land-cruisers, are spent exploring  historic highlights of the northern Highlands  (Gondar, the Semien Mountains and Lalibela) and the ethnic south with its fascinating tribal cultures.
